MAH, VALERIE (nee LOR) Valerie Mah passed away suddenly of cardiac failure, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, her 83rd birthday, at Toronto Western Hospital. She will be sorely missed by her family and the many organizations she worked with in Toronto. Mrs. Mah was born in Brockville, Ontario, the third daughter of Lor Leip and Agnes Lor. She attended Toronto Teachers' College and was a Special Education Teacher with emotionally disturbed children. She was also a Vice Principal at Withrow Public School and Principal at Bruce Public School in Toronto. As a volunteer, she worked with such organizations as the Toronto Educational Opportunity Fund (TEOF), the Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO), Mon Sheong Foundation, the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, West Park Healthcare Centre Foundation, the Jean Lumb Awards, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of East Toronto, and Community/Police Liaison Committee for 55 Division and many others. Mrs. Mah was predeceased by her husband Daniel. She is survived by son Ian, and siblings Alice Hope, Ruth Malloy, Gloria Spoden and Joe Lor. Memorial contributions may be made to any organization dear to her heart. An educational endowment fund will also be established in her memory. A Zoom celebration of her life is planned for March 6th in respect of Chinese New Year.
