Uk Ing Wong (nee Ling) passed away peacefully in her North York home surrounded by loved ones on March 24, 2022 at the age of 95*. Uk Ing Ling was born in Minqing, Fujian, China, the youngest of four children. After her marriage to Yuk Ngie Wong in 1948, they migrated to Brunei and subsequently Malaysia where they raised one son and eight daughters. In the 1970’s, she moved with her family to Canada where she would spend the rest of her life.

During the marriage that spanned 72 years until the death of her beloved husband in 2020, she was a devoted wife and diligent homemaker. Besides being a tireless learner throughout her lifetime, she placed great emphasis on her children’s education. Some of her favourite activities included gathering her large family to celebrate every festival or significant occasion. She is survived by eight children: Lay Sing, Ho, Liew, Moy, Kieh, Zeu Ming, Bek and Chiew, 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Due to the pandemic, a private family funeral service will be held on Monday, March 28th, 2022 at York Funeral Centre on 160 Beecroft Road, North York, In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CICS Foundation at Canadahelps under Mrs. Uk Ing Wong Memorial Fund at the following link: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/centre-for-information-and-community-services-foundation/p2p/in-memory-of-Mrs-Uk-Ing-Wong/

*Mrs. Wong was actually born in 1928, and 95 is due to the traditional Chinese method of calculating age.
