In memory of

Tuyet Quan Loi 雷雪君夫人

March 29, 1960 -  June 23, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tuyet Quan Lôi 雷雪君.Tuyet Quan Lôi was born to father Lôi Thông Viêm and mother Vương Sở Lang on March 29, 1960, in Saigon, Vietnam.

Known endearingly to family and friends as ‘Fat Auntie’ 肥姨, Quan’s story began with the tender nickname ‘Mouse’ 老鼠, given at birth because she was born premature. Despite her small size and the doubts of many, her father believed in her resilience. He devoted himself to caring for her during those early, uncertain months, ensuring she grew strong. It seemed Quan was born a survivor. She overcame her fragile infancy, endured the hardships of poverty, and, alongside her brother Moc Chon and sister A Cam, bravely fled Vietnam for Canada in 1978. Her life was a testament to her strength, courage, and unwavering spirit.

In Toronto, she met her beloved Kwok Keung Law and became his wife in 1981. Together, they shared a deep passion for food, leading them to co-own Quan’s Noodles for over 15 years. Quan’s vibrant personality, confidence, humor, and generosity made her beloved by many. She had a zest for life, loved traveling, enjoyed great food, and cherished moments with her family. Most importantly, she was never afraid to be herself, a trait that inspired all who knew her.

Quan faced her diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma with the same bravery and resilience that carried her though life. Given a prognosis of only six months in September 2023, she once again defied all odds and earned an additional three precious months. Our family treasured this extended time with her, sharing stories, laughter, and tender moments by her bedside.

On June 23, 2024, Quan passed away peacefully in her home in Scarborough, surrounded by her dearest loved ones, at the age of 64.

Quan is survived by her devoted husband, Kwok Keung Law, her daughters: Maple Law (married to Cary Leung, with daughters Kara and Chloe Leung), and Emily Law (married to Aaron Huston). She is also survived by her siblings: her older brother Moc Chon Lôi, and her younger sister Phuong (Jenny) Lôi.

A celebration of Quan’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd at Pine Hills Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Road). The service will begin at 9:30am, followed by lunch offsite at 12:30pm.

We invite all who knew her to join us in honoring and remembering this remarkable woman who brought so much joy and warmth to our lives.
