With profound love and deep sadness, the Huynh family announces the passing of Tuong Van Huynh, who died peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, surrounded by family.
Tuong was born on October 16, 1940, in Phước Long, near Bạc Liêu, Vietnam. His early life was shaped by hardship, war, and the unwavering pursuit of education. At age 14, he left home to attend school in another town, walking 25 km and working for room and board. His resilience and perseverance became the defining qualities of his life.
As a young man, Tuong met Nam, the woman he had initially hoped to hire as a seamstress for his fledgling garment business. She would eventually become his lifelong partner. Together, they built a life grounded in commitment, sacrifice, and love, raising four children.
After the war, Tuong immigrated to Canada with what he described as “bare hands,” arriving with minimal possessions, and an unshakeable will to build a better future for his family. He worked multiple jobs, and took night classes to learn English and weekend lessons in car repair so he could stretch every dollar a little further. Tuong found success in his adopted country, sending all four of his children to university and operating a sewing business with his wife.
Tuong is survived by his devoted wife Nam, and their children: Thi, Tai, Nick, and Nhu. In them, he has instilled the values of hard work, perseverance, and a steadfast belief that love is shown through sacrifice.
He was a proud grandfather—lovingly known to his grandchildren as “A Cong.” He is cherished by his seven grandchildren: Myra, Steven, Evelyn, Matthew, Nile, Madison, and Mason.
Tuong will be forever remembered by his extended family, loved ones, and all who were touched by his kindness and strength.
The Huynh family extends a heartfelt thanks to the care teams who supported him with skill and compassion throughout his two-year battle with cancer. As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Tuong to the Sunnybook Foundation and North York General Foundation would be appreciated.
