Tucksie Ericka Coote, affectionately nicknamed 'Pooch', passed away at the age of 86 in Scarborough, Ontario on January 16, 2024.

‘Pooch’ was born and raised in the southern fishing community of Rocky Point, Clarendon in Jamaica on July 10th, 1937.

She was the daughter of Florence Knight and Joseph Brown and was a sister to eight siblings. She is survived by her two sisters Mercent and Winsome.

Tucksie was a mother to Patricia Gordon, Sonia Stewart and Annief Coote.

She migrated to Canada in 1972 and made a home for her husband, Enoch Coote, and her three children in downtown Toronto.

In 1991, Tucksie experienced a great loss with the passing of her husband to lung cancer.

While severely devastated, she continued to make the most out of her life with travels to England, Cuba and the U.S. to visit family.

She was a devoted grandmother to 15 grandchildren and oftentimes played the role of caregiver. Her legacy expands to 10 great-grandchildren.

In recent years, she battled dementia. Despite some memory loss, her personality continued to shine.

She will forever be remembered as a loving, funny and fierce woman.
