In memory of

Trong Chi (James) Luong

July 2, 1959 -  October 17, 2023

James (Trong Chi) Luong passed away on October 17th, 2023. He was born in Saigon, Vietnam on July 2, 1959 as the eldest of five children to Hoa and Kien Luong.
James, a dedicated, loving and responsible husband, father and grandfather is survived by his wife, Vicky; daughter, Jenny; son, Harrison; grandson, Markus; and his favourite dogs Charlie, Sonny, Bong, Shelby, and Jackson.
James met the love of his life Vicky in Saigon, Vietnam and started dating when they were teenagers. Both of their families objected to their relationship because they thought they were too young, but their love persisted for more than 45 years.
At the end of the Vietnam War, James escaped the country with Vicky and was accepted by Australia, while his father and siblings were accepted by Canada as refugees. It was in Australia where his daughter Jenny was born. Feeling a sense of responsibility as the big brother of the family to help in a time of need, James and his family resettled in Canada as permanent residents in the early 1980’s where his son Harrison was born.
James worked tirelessly to support his family. He loved music and martial arts and encouraged his children to explore both interests. He paid for singing lessons for his daughter Jenny so she can express herself through music, and bought his son Harrison a guitar at a time where money was tight in the family. James was a big sports car enthusiast and loved the Ford Mustang. He was also an incredible cook and prepared many delicious meals for his family and friends throughout his life.
James was the type of person to always step up if there was an issue and fulfilled his responsibility as a loving and supportive son, brother, husband and father until the very end of his life. He will be sorely missed for his generosity, sense of humour, kindness and courage.
He will remain forever in our hearts.
