It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Tom Toshihiko Iwasaki on April 13, 2020 at the Seven Oaks Long-term Care Home, aged 75 years.
Beloved husband to Michie Iwasaki and cherished father and father-in-law to Yoko & Khalid, Marcia & Armando, Daniel & Ailene, Albert & Jenny, and Karen & Jack. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Ariana & Rayn, Aidan & Adalyn, and Ethan & Evan.
He grew up in Osaka, Japan and in his youth he enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping, gymnastics and studying science. In 1971 he immigrated to Canada where he worked as an electrician and opened a storefront in Scarborough, Ontario. A devoted father, Tom shared his joy for gymnastics and the outdoors with his children and took them on many memorable camping and fishing trips at Lake Simcoe. He was very much involved in his community buddhist activities and was always the first to volunteer his time and skills.
As Michie and the family go through their grieving process, we would like to ask for some privacy and space at this time. A private memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the compassionate nurses and personal support workers at Seven Oaks Long-term Care Home.
