In memory of

Tom Darlington

December 11, 1968 -  December 3, 2022

The Darlington family is saddened to announce the loss of Tom Darlington, who left us too soon on December 3rd in his 53rd year, eight days before his 54th birthday. Proud father to Braydon and Meghan and a loving son to Ruth and George Darlington. Tom will be dearly missed by his sister Diane, brother-in-law Trevor, and countless family and friends he met and loved throughout his years.

Thomas William George Darlington, known as Tom by his loved ones, had the biggest heart, an electric smile and a fantastic sense of humour. Of the many things that gave him joy, he loved his family and tried his best to be there for all of us, especially his Mom and Dad. But most of all, he loved his kids, Braydon and Meghan; they meant the world to him. He loved animals, and they loved him. Music was another language for him, playing his radio loud enough his neighbours could hear. You could find him listening to the Rolling Stones, Muddy Water, Country, Irish folk, especially the classics. He could play any tune and boy, could he sing! Tom was a creative person studying Graphic Design at George Brown College in Toronto. He could build anything from the sprawling tree house in his yard for his kids to create everlasting memories to the tables he designed and built for his sister; he was a selfless man who always put others first.

In his younger days, he travelled to Australia, England, and the Caribbean. He loved to camp. Our best times were camping with friends and family, especially at Grundy Provincial Park, a tradition he continued with his kids.

But Willowdale was his home, milkshakes at the Golden Star, walking the dogs at Goulding Park and chatting with the neighbours. He would help anyone in need and will be missed by his neighbours, many of whom came to rely on him for assistance.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18th, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at York Funeral Centre. A Memorial Service will commence at 2:00 pm, and a reception will follow. In lieu of floral tributes, the Darlington family kindly asks that you consider making a donation to the Toronto Humane Society in Tom’s memory. The Darlington family greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time.

Tom, rest easy now…

Dear Darlington Family,

I’m saddened to hear that Tom has passed. For the short time that I got to know him he was a lovely, kind and funny guy, had a great laugh, was compassionate and always generous with compliments. I’m sending everyone love and strength and I hope that you find comfort through one another and the good memories you have of Tom.

Love Annette Bruley

A beautiful tribute to Tom. It will be a sad time for family and friends but good memories will always be there to remember the good times. Our prayers are with you.

My memories from growing up and early adulthood was that Tom always stood out. He was forever cheerful and fun loving and you could feel his energy when he entered a room. I know he will be sorely missed by his close family and friends. My heart goes out to Tom, his family, and friends.
