In memory of

Timothy Smyth

September 10, 1954 -  October 4, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Timothy (Tim) Smyth in the early hours of October 4th at Toronto General Hospital.

This greatly missed, larger than life, gentle soul is survived by his wife Sherri, sister Valerie, brother Terry, aunt May, brothers in law Richard and Scott (Peggy), sisters in law Cathy (Al) and Lorrie, cousins Kate (Daniel), Andrea (John), Geoff and Vicki.

Before retiring in September 2017, Tim enjoyed a long career as a chef. He enjoyed fine wine, golf, travelling, darts at the legion and cooking for friends and family. Tim was active in his church singing with the Joyful Heights singers, acting with the Woodbine Heights Drama Club, serving on the Deacon's Board and in many other capacities. Most recently he was also on the Executive Committee of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday October 12th, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Heights Baptist Church, 1171 Woodbine Avenue, Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Tim can be made to:

Tim was a gentleman, he loved people and cooking. We spent many Canada days in Tim and Sherri's backyard, enjoying meeting their other friends and family and Tim cooked a bbq. We saw Tim in many plays at his church and enjoyed his spagetti sauce and pies at his church spagetti dinner and auctions. For many years Tim was captain of one of our dart teams at br10 legion dart league and when his team won a game he had a very merry mascot that he banged. Tim loved to dress up at br10 halloween nights. Our latest memory is his Sept 65th birthday celebration at br10 legion, he was surrounded by his family and friends and really enjoyed the night. Tim was loved and will be missed.

The picture reflects your description of him. I more and more do not understand the path or journey of life that we are given. Sad to see that his was cut short. Find the strength to remember the happy moments you all shared. Hugs to you all.xxx

Tim was a gentle giant with a friendly, pleasant demeanor. Enjoyed many back yard get togethers with him, Sherri, and Terry at Richard and Valerie’s home. Our thoughts are with all his family and friends - he will always be missed, one of a kind.
