Thomas Michael Naylor
April 20, 1929 to July 17, 2023

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Tom Naylor on July 17, 2023 at Sunnybrook Hospital, aged 94 years. Beloved husband of Judith. Loving stepfather of Merren (Joe) Meijer and Garth Kennedy. Cherished Grandpa of Anna Meijer.

Tom will be fondly remembered by the “other” Meijers, the Australian Jones family,
the Canadian Jones family, the King Family, and the Parrs (Steve, Judy, Samantha and family, and Michael). Tom loved watching these children grow up and for many years enjoyed the numerous family outings. His friends are mourning along with the family and we wish to thank all of you for your kind, generous thoughts.

Tom lived a whole life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. He was a kind, modest, generous man with a sense of humour and an infectious laugh. Born in London, England, he became an indentured apprentice as a teenager and graduated as a carpenter and joiner when he was 20 years old.

In 1955 he applied to join the London Fire Brigade and served the people of London for eleven years and saved many lives. He was very proud to be a firefighter. In 1967 he arrived in Toronto and got a job with Metro Housing Corp. as a carpenter and joiner. He joined the Tranzac Club and cherished the friendships he made over the years. His love of music lured him into joining the Tranzac Maori Concert Party and he was a member of the dance group for many years. He loved all music genres including opera, ballet, the odd rock concert, and the musicals in Stratford. He truly was a renaissance man. He lived his life to the fullest and was very put out when he was forced to retire when he was 69. He thought he was far too young to be “put out to pasture” so he got a job with the Law Society of Ontario and again secured enduring friendships with his colleagues.

Tom’s big heart surrounded the children he loved. In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen two children’s camps if you wish to make a donation in his memory.
Camp BUCKO ( - a camp for burn survivors ages 7 to 17
Campfire Circle ( - a nonprofit oncology camp that supports kids and families affected by childhood cancer. This is the new name for Camp Ooch that Tom and Judith have supported for years.

He will be definitely missed, we loved his laughter so much. We will also miss seeing him in his beaded KIWI (skirt) and bare chest thumping his chest and feet and singing Maori songs. Rest in Peace buddy.
