Theresia "Resi" Hammer

May 26, 1933 - May 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Theresia "Resi" Hammer (nee Hirtenfelder) announce her passing on May 15, 2022. Beloved wife of Franz of over 68 years, cherished mother of Gerhard (Michelle), and most adored Oma of Ryan and Caroline. Theresia will be fondly remembered by her siblings, extended family and friends in Austria and Canada. A special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at The Scarborough Hospital General Division for their dedication, care, and support to Theresia and her loved ones. Private visitation will take place at Pine Hills Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Rd.) on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment and Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresia's memory to a charity of choice.

Dear Mr. Hammer, Gerhard, Michelle, Ryan and Caroline,
It is with a heavy heart that we write this post. Mrs. Hammer, as she will always be known to us, was one of the most loving neighbours a person could have. Our time together dates back to my childhood when a new family moved in next to us. As your Mom, would often say to me, Kathy, "you couldn't understand anything Gerhard was saying because he was speaking German", I didn't care. It was nice to have a loving family beside us. As time passed any my own parents age, Mrs. Hammer became their Guardian Angel, alerted us to anything out of the ordinary. I can recall countless times when she came to the rescue of our both Mom and Dad. We will always remember her love of gardening, her Christmas cookies and her wonderful smile and kind heart. Thank you Mrs. Hammer for your many years of friendship and kindness. We pray that you are at peace. Our thoughts are with all of you during this time.
