Thelma Norah Mente

May 30, 1927 -  January 7, 2021

Thelma N. Mente (nee Miller) - Passed away in Mississauga January 7, 2021 in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband Ruben. Lovingly remembered by her children Michael, Joanne, Gordon and her grandchildren, Matthew and Mitchell Mente and Morgan and Ryan Shepherd. Thelma was born in Didsbury, Alberta in 1927. Following high school, she left the family farm and moved to Calgary where she worked as a payroll clerk. From 1951 to 1956 she was a WREN in the Naval Reserve where she met lifelong friends. Thelma moved to London, England and worked there as typist from July 1953 to August 1954 after which she travelled through Europe until returning to Canada in the fall of 1954. She returned to work as a bookkeeper, retiring to become a homemaker in 1958. Thelma and Rube moved to Burlington, Ontario in 1964 where they raised their family only to return to Calgary in 1992 where they were involved with Naval Veterans Association. In 2006, they moved back to Toronto. Thelma’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at a family service this summer in Alberta.

Knew Thelma from the Condominium Building we lived I - and we all belonged to the Craft Group in the Building. She was a dear sweet lady who was a pleasure to have around - always willing to give her time to anything she could help with. She will be missed. R.I.P. dear Thelma.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am personally thankful for the close friendship I shared with Thelma. I will always remember our interesting conversations, her kind nature and her gentle soul. Such an amazing lady. She will be missed dearly. Forever and Always in my heart❤
