Terry Alexander Barrett
June 29, 1963 – February 20, 2019

With great sorrow in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Terry on February 20, 2019, with his family at his side, and wrapped in the love by all those who knew him.

Beloved and treasured husband of Brenda (nee Thebeau); the most amazing father to Emily, Alexander and Zachary; a lovable and caring son to the late Nathaniel Barrett and Marina (nee Prince); stand-up brother to Bernice (Rose) and Denise (Crane), fun-loving uncle to Amanda, Brandon, Tiffany and Melissa, and well-respected brother-in-law to Kirk Crane and Cyril Rose; giving and caring son-in-law to both Eugene Thebeau and the late Lorraine Thebeau (nee Robichaud). Although a nephew in title, Terry was more like a loving son to Roland and Barb (nee Prince) Smith. Terry will be greatly missed by all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, his hockey team family, co-workers, community and all those who benefited from Coach Terry’s guidance and teachings. His business leadership and instinct was highly commendable. His time may have been too short with us, but his impact on this world was huge. His legacy will last forever in all those whose lives he touched.

We thank Niagara EMS, Great Niagara General Hospital and Hamilton General Hospital for their help and care during his time of need. But most importantly, we thank the Doctors and Nurses of Hamilton General Hospital for their tender care of both Terry and us. A great shout out to Jodie and her partners at Trillium Gift of Life Network, who together gave us a sense of peace in this difficult time.

To honour Terry’s memory, we encourage you to sign your organ donor cards. Memorial donations may be made to Jumpstart – Giving Kids a Sporting Chance; The Heart and Stroke Foundation; or charity of your choice. If desired in lieu of flowers, you may also wish to plant a tree in Terry's honor through A Living Tribute - Link can be found under the donation tab.

A private service was held with family only. In honour of a great man, we will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Terry for family, friends, and co-workers very soon. Details to follow.

We were told once that the greatest influences of your children will be either; a parent, a teacher and or a coach. But not necessity in that order. Terry, you were one of the great influencers as a coach, mentoring our kids. You believe in girls and they can do it well and together with the boys. My daughter is where she is today because people you believed that girls can do it. You coached hockey but more about life and its lessons. I still remember my kids pondering your motivations from the locker room on the way home. Our hockey community will be at great loss, your family will always know that your imprint in life was far greater. You are loved by all those who you have touched. Our lives and our children are better to have crossed your path.

Brenda, Emily, Alexander and Zach we are truly saddened to hear of your loss. My heart goes you all and your extended family. Please remember Terry will always be with you, like a handprint on your heart. Unique and strong!

May he always look down at your family in peace.

Words can't express, the sadness we
share in the passing of Terry. His wonderful way he enbraced life, his kind and caring manner and his good wit... we will miss it all. To our great friend Brenda, may you and the kids be wrapped with love and support. Terry will live on, in our hearts forever.
