In memory of

Teresita Carballo Butao

October 7, 1951 -  January 10, 2019

Teresita Carballo Butao was more commonly known to family and friends as Terry/Teri or Nene; a strong, maternal, and disciplined woman. As the 2nd eldest daughter of Nieves and Manuel Butao Sr., from the onset she took on the caregiver role of her younger siblings in the Philippines. Eventually, at the age of 24 her selfless nature developed into her profession as a Registered Nurse (RN) and she braved the cold by moving to Canada to help establish roots for her remaining family to join. With her family comfortably settled in Canada, a career opportunity knocked and Terry moved to Houston, Texas on her own to work. She spent many years in the United States where she made many close friends that became her family away from family, spending countless evenings karaoking the nights away. Her fun-loving Texas years, sprinkled with regular visits to Canada, were spent exactly as she intended until 2012 when she was diagnosed with cancer. It was then that she moved back to Canada to re-join her mother and family. Despite her circumstances, Terry spent her final days providing care, comfort, and closure to loved ones and passed peacefully on Thursday January 10th, 2019. She will be greatly missed!

We will truly miss you my dear friend. When you left McAllen and to this date, we still talk about how we shared my lunch packed in a tiny pyrex container. Everybody would laught at how small my lunch was ,yet we still did not consume it all coz you would go running outside to have a nebulizer treatment with your Coca Cola We were so skinny that everybody believed that we are sisters.
I am so grateful for your passion in photography because I got a photoshoot for free.
Teri B. , you may be gone but your memory will live on forever, including your style in placing the top sheet over the siderails during presentation time. Good bye my friend it is an honor knowing you ...
