December 17, 1932 -  December 31, 2022

George Mitode (Ted) Vangel
Beloved son of George and Anita Vangel (deceased), brother of Al (deceased) and his wife Jean, uncle to John and Andrea, great uncle to Jordan, MacKenzie, Cory and James. Ted was born during the depression to his Macedonian family living in Cabbagetown, Toronto. After graduating with high marks from Jarvis Collegiate he worked as a statistical clerk for 6 years to earn enough money to get a university education. He obtained a B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics (Atomic Energy option) in 1961, followed by an M.A.Sc. degree in Industrial Engineering, all from the University of Toronto. He enjoyed a career in operations research working for the Woods Gordon consulting firm, then the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, and finally Ontario Hydro. He was steadfast and loyal to his friends and enjoyed their fellowship, especially around the table reserved for him for 25 years at the Duke of York restaurant. Ted's artistic side came out in his photography, which he created in his basement development lab, resulting in an amazing collection of photos.

Ted's family would like to thank the personal support workers at Fieldstone Commons Care Facility for their excellent care and cheerful attention to his needs. As per Ted’s wishes, his urn will be interred in his mother’s plot which will take place at Pine Hills Cemetery, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto on Monday, January 16 at 11:30 am. Immediately following the interment, a luncheon will be served for all family and friends.
