In memory of

Tapan Kumar Chatterjee

December 14, 1945 -  February 17, 2025

Tapan Kumar Chatterjee, lovingly known as “Bachchu” to friends and family, was a devoted husband to Ruchira “Munni” Chatterjee, father to Rana and Aunonna and a beloved ‘kaku’ or uncle to countless others in the community. He grew up in the South End Park neighbourhood of Kolkata, India with his older brother and 13 sisters. His childhood was full of pursuits like football, cricket and skipping class to go to the movies. He married in 1974 and settled in Canada in 1975, building a business as an entrepreneur and a family as a father over his 50 years here. His love for art, music and film was rivalled only by his passion for his beloved Toronto Blue Jays. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, his love of traditional Indian music and his ability to engage any audience with one of his amazing stories. Perhaps his greatest gift was being able to connect with every generation, gender, age and culture. The impact he made on his family, friends and his community is indelible. May he rest in eternal peace.

Bachhuda
We will remember you as a very good friend, good at heart and a helpful person. Our first Christmas you came as Santa and gave Joy his gifts. When Shubha’s mother came to Canada you drove her from the airport to our apartment .
We shall miss you very much

Bacchuda remains very close in our thoughts and we will forever remember the good moments we had with him...always jovial and so caring. We also shared a special bonding on our mutual love for R.D. Burman's music....sharing WhatsApp messages.

We would like to express our sincere condolences to Munnidi, Aunonna and Rana, on his passing away. We are deeply sorry for your loss and pray to Almighty, to give you strength at this difficult time. Om Shanti.

There could be just pages on his philanthropy or generosity but what I shall always remember is his ability to cheer up others and put back a smile. Munni Mashi and Mesho shall remain silent forces in my life.
