In memory of

Sylvia Anne Mossman

December 5, 1937 -  November 26, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia Anne Mossman (nee Denomy)
After courageously recovering from a stroke last January, and battling to regain her
independence, Sylvia succumbed to a second stroke on November 26, 2022.

Beloved mother of Charles (Antoniette), Melinda (Mario Giansante) and Suzanne. Cherished grandmother of Zack, Danielle, Alicia and Ashlyn and her fur grandbabies Gus and Lainey. Loving sister to John. Sylvia will be remembered by all for her superior intellect, wit, generosity and beauty. Her strength in life was unparalleled and only became more evident after facing her current challenges head on. Sylvia was a larger than life presence, who will leave behind a noticeable absence to all of her family and many friends. Throughout her life she devoted herself to her family who meant everything to her. A tireless seeker of knowledge, she was the source of information for all of our questions, no matter the topic. The term “one of a kind” is befitting this exceptional woman.
We will love and miss you forever.

Special thanks to all of the staff at Faith Manor for taking such good care of Sylvia during her stay and to the wonderful Palliative Care Team at Brampton Civic. Your kindness helped us through these difficult days.

The first time I called you “Ms Mossman”, you said to me, “Oh, please don’t call me that. It makes me sound old.” And you’re definitely not old, so I started calling you Sylvia instead. But overtime, that didn’t feel right, either. You weren’t just a friend to me, you were more than that. Eventually, the name “Grandma Mossman” is what felt perfect for us, so “Grandma” is what you were known to me as. It was always so much fun to see you, talk with you, and run errands together. We never ran out of things to talk about, whether it was about trending Netflix shows or vegetarian recipes I should try out. All of our conversations will remain in my heart and I’ll turn to them for insights whenever I think about cooking, what to watch, what to read, and more. You quickly became a grandparental figure to me, and I am grateful for all of our moments together. Love you Grandma Mossman
