In memory of

Suzanne Marie Varalo

October 27, 1950 -  September 1, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Suzanne Marie Varalo share her passing on Sunday September 1, 2024 after a brief illness, at the age of 73, surrounded by her loved ones.

She leaves behind her beloved husband Gord Penney, her true love of 46 wonderful years. They built an incredible life together and enjoyed each other’s company each and every day.

Suzanne was the eldest of 11 children. She had 5 very special sisters who were also her best friends (Carolle, Louise, Sandra, Sonia, & Joane), and 5 brothers (Marcel, Mitch, Rick, Doug & Dave) who, through thick or thin, loved each other immensely. She also loved all her brother and sister-in-laws whom she was so fond of. As well as her many nieces and nephews, friends, and several other loved ones she has met and loved along the way. Her family meant the world to her especially her annual sisters reunion with her 5 sisters. This festivity took place for many years, which was such a joyful occasion she looked forward to. She deeply loved her dear siblings, as they weathered the storms together throughout their lives.

She is survived by her true love Gord Penney, her siblings Carolle, Louise, Marcel, Mitch, Sandra, Sonia, Joane & Rick.
She will be sadly missed by the many grandchildren of her siblings as well.

Suzanne was predeceased by her parents the late Rene Varalo and Estelle Varalo, and 2 of her brothers, Doug and Dave. As well as nieces Nicole & Nancy and nephews Brooks, Troy & Jay.

Her best friend Violet whom she loved and treasured, often enjoyed Costco trips and shopping for her favourite cheeses at her favourite Cheese factory. Suzanne loved Violet, just like she was her sister. A true kindred spirit.

Through these losses, Suzanne continued to be a positive influence on those around her with her vibrant personality, compassion, and gratitude. She was always filled with hope and kindness.

Suzanne spent over 40 years working in the insurance industry before retiring in 2011. Her work ethic was unmatched. She served her employers well, committing herself daily to all her professional duties and responsibilities with commitment and excellence.

Suzanne liked to have a good time. She was also mischievous, tenacious, determined, and always had a sparkle in her eye. Oh yes and she was corky. She will be tremendously missed.

The visitation will be held on Saturday September 7, 2024 from 1:00 - 3:00. Followed by a service in the Chapel at 3:00.

I will sadly miss my dearest friend. Spending time with you has always been an excursion . Nothing was ever simple, even if it was just running some errands. She loved to talk and reminisce on most of our excursions. We recently talked about taking a trip to St Jacob’s Market and town. We would also visit the unique stores including our special one called The Angel Store. We always purchased something special.
My days will be empty, but my heart will be filled with the Love, Respect and admiration I have for you. You will never be replaced, for you are a rare stone.
Love you forever, Carolle B ❤️👼

We met in 1964 when your family moved next door on Lewis St. Your large family of 11 maintained friendships with us since then. You will be missed greatly by so many. Rest in peace Susie

Suzanne was a great friend from our Belair days. I enjoyed our lunches in the cafeteria. Rest in peace.

Worked with Suzanne 1997-2010 and became good friends until I moved back to Nova Scotia. Had the pleasure of seeing Sue last Fall when I was in Toronto. She was such a beautiful sole inside & out. She will be missed. Love you Susie!
