In memory of

Susana Villar

November 23, 1942 -  August 11, 2023

Passed away at the age of 80 years on August 11th 2023 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Adoring wife to her late husband, Julio Villar. Loving mother to four, Marcello, Gabriela, Rafael-Mario, and Eric and her grandchildren: Breanne, Brandon, Nathan, Justin, Noah, Colby, Maya, Leah, and Cayne. She will also be missed by her Godsons Alvaro Almuina and Gustavo Viera, best friend and sister-in-law, Orietta Renee Almuina, her son-in-law Mario, and her daughers-in-law, Sherry, Dionne, and Lisa.

Susana was born in 1942 in Montevideo, Uruguay and had one sibling (the late Hector Almuina) and extended family in both Uruguay and Spain. Susana was a loving and caring woman and her calm demeanor and genuine kindness always made everyone in her presence feel at ease. She met and fell in love with her late husband in Uruguay and they got married on March 11, 1966. Soon after they had 3 children, and they migrated to Canada where they had their 4th child. She was a homemaker and caregiver to her grandchildren, and to her mother who lived at home with her until her passing at the age of 104. She also cared for her husband before his passing. When she wasn’t caring for someone, she had a book in hand and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed knitting alongside her mother, knitting warm sweaters for her children when they were young and spent the months leading up to Christmas knitting slippers for every family member and friends. A few years ago she took a liking to crocheting and doing daily Sudoku. Nothing brought her more joy than having all her children gathered for birthdays and holiday celebrations. She was famous for her homemade pizza and croquettes and making the turkey on Thanksgiving. She will be greatly missed by her family and lifetime friends (you know who you are) but especially her children.

Family and Friends will be received at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE- MISSISSAUGA 1535 South Gateway Road (at Dixie Road, two lights south of Eglinton) 905-602-1580 on Friday August 25, 2023 for a Memorial Gathering from 7 – 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 8 p.m.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Bethell House Hospice in honour of Susana would be appreciated by the family.
