In memory of

Susan Marie Nichols

April 11, 1948 -  September 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Nichols (Humphries), who left us peacefully, with her loving daughter by her side, on Sunday, September 29, at the age of 76, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Susan was a devoted mother to Brieanna (Jesse) and a beloved Nana to River and Finn. Her bond with her grandchildren was especially strong, with a special connection as a twin herself. Dear sister to James, Catherine, and Martha, predeceased by her parents Ronald and Cecilie, sister Margaret, brother Alan and twin sister Sandra. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and friends.
Susan loved her pets, and her faithful companion Juno will miss their daily walks together. Even up until this past spring, Susan could be found walking Juno with her unmatched playlist, filled with her favourite tunes, getting in their 10k steps before 8am. She enjoyed spending summers at the cottage on Lake Simcoe, a place that brought her peace and joy. A lover of sewing and a voracious reader, Susan found contentment in the simple pleasures of life.
Known for her ‘all are welcome’ open door philosophy and quilting chaos, Susan met every challenge with hope, grace and determination.
Susan’s devotion to her family was unmatched, especially in her later years, when she poured her heart into her grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to support their adventures, forming a deep and special bond with them.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Private funeral to be held, please contact the family for details.

It was with great sadness that we heard about Susan's illness and passing. She was a special person and we always looked forward to seeing her and her twin Sandra. Both were kind and fun people. I'll always remember her for her dedication to her family and sense of humour. Love and condolences to her family.

I would often see her delivering Brie's twins to her at the end of the work day. She had so much energy to keep up with them. We used to talk about health issues in our nerdy ways. She sounds like a mother we all wish we had! She lived large and in charge and likely had no regrets. We could all learn from her!

We will very much miss Susan. She was a real sweetheart. We always enjoyed talking to her about the grandkid, River and Finn, and all the dogs she had over the years. She loved her dogs. We are very sad that cancer took her life but we are so glad that she’s not suffering anymore

I will for ever miss my aunt, and am still deeply saddened with the fact that she has passed. I will always remember the countless family gatherings at their house or the great times as a kid at the cottage. She can be together with my mom again in heaven, and they can go on long walks like they used to. Aunt Susan, you are greatly missed and always remembered by the entire Richards family ❤️❤️
