In memory of

Susan Jennifer Weedon

February 13, 1956 -  July 23, 2025

Susan Jennifer Weedon left the world on July 23, 2025 at Little Current hospital on Manitoulin Island after seven years of treatment for bile duct cancer. She was in her 70th year. She is survived by her husband Jim Hinds, her son Jack Hinds (Lisa Wormsbecher), her daughter Jenna Hinds and her grandson Declan Hinds. She is also survived by her elder sister Anne Weedon.
Sue was raised in Agincourt, Ontario by her English immigrant parents, Frank and Sadie Weedon of Newcastle, UK. She earned a BA in French literature from U of T Scarborough, then spent two years working as a liftie and cowgirl in Alberta. She entered U of T Faculty of Law in 1980, where she met Jim, then went on to work for Stikeman Elliott in Toronto in tax law and litigation. She took a break to raise Jack and Jenna, then retrained as a teacher of English as a second language, where she developed deep friendships with her accomplished students.
Sue had a joie de vivre and a boldness for new pursuits which took her into such varied activities as English walking holidays, rescue of stray barn cats, bridge, big band clarinet and, until recently, pickleball.
We would like to express our gratitude for the extraordinary efforts of her cancer doctors at Princess Margaret Hospital, Drs. Knox and Katie, and to the surgical staff at Toronto General Hospital. Their determined efforts added years to her life. She used those years well.
An informal visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre between 2 pm and 6 pm.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the aforementioned hospitals.

Jenna, your mother had a long struggle with her illness, but she had you, your Dad and your brother with her all the way. And of course she managed one last time recently to get to Manitoulin Island, a place that you have told me so often that she loved.

Condolences from Helen and me.
