I'm deeply saddened to hear of the loss of both Susan and Steve. They were both a joy to work with on all their travels and I feel fortunate to have met them both.
A hug to the Barker family. Tara Huk
Bob and I were shocked to hear that Susan, both a dear friend and a colleague at Kincardine District Secondary School, had died. Susan was a knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated English teacher. She always had time to be an attentive listener to students and teachers alike. Susan was lovingly known as the teacher who laid claim to the "flat earth" possibility with her students: she had a
wonderful sense of humour. Susan made learning fun and meaningful and she will be dearly missed by all who loved and respected her. I will deeply miss Susan's friendship, her trust and her love.
The woman I knew as Miss Stumpf taught me English when she first started teaching in the 70s. She was a kind woman, who visited me in the hospital when I was sick, who took time to talk to me one-to-one and who treated me with much more respect than my teenage self deserved. I'm very saddened to hear of her passing much too soon. I've always had warm memories of her as my teacher many years ago at Glenview High School.
I was a student of Mrs. Barker's back in the 1970's, at Glenview Park Secondary School. She was truly a gift to teaching and one of the main reasons I love to read today. Please accept my condolences. This world lost a gem.
Lucy:
