Sunny King Chuen Kwong passed away peacefully on May 13th, 2024 at Toronto General Hospital with his family lovingly by his side after a brave battle with adrenal cancer over the last fifteen months at the age of 39.
The dedicated medical team who treated him at Princess Margaret Hospital have repeatedly phased him for his optimistic outlook and his courage to face all the challenges during his treatment which started from hormone therapy, followed by chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy at the end. Sunny fully supported ongoing cancer research and had volunteered his time and effort needed in hope that there will be a better cure for adrenal cancer in the future.
Sunny was very independent and truly enjoyed to travel for work and during his own vacation times. He would travel in style and always came home with something for his parents. He made his last trip in December 2022 to Paris and London. He was so happy during that trip that he came home with close to a luggage full of gifts for friends and family. He was proud to have completed a pastry workshop at Le Cordon Bleu (Paris). He had a big grin on his face when he took the picture with the completion certificate and the chefs who taught the workshop!
He appreciated good food and loved to try new restaurants. He would bring his parents along to share the experiences regularly. He also had a fond interest for afternoon tea and we are delighted to say that he must have tried almost all the restaurants that offered afternoon tea in Toronto. He posted over 300 Google reviews with 4,900 photos and ended up with close to 120 million views at the time of his departure. Sunny was a good writer and restaurant critic.
He had a passion for cars and would make time to attend the auto shows every year in Canada and USA. His favourite hobby was to collect sport cards and he was very impressed with his collection.
Sunny has been blessed to have great friends and colleagues whom he met in his lifetime. His bosses also became good friends and mentors as well.
He is survived by his parents, Kwong Kwong and Liesl Kwong. Sunny had been a very good son who respected them and took good care of them.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to UHN Foundation at https://uhnfoundation.ca.
