In memory of

Sunita Bhagat

May 1, 1943 -  August 3, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Sunita Bhagat, who left us on August 3, 2023. Born on May 1, 1943, in Amritsar, India, she immigrated to Canada in the 1970s and lived a life filled with a spirit of independence.

Sunita touched the lives of those around her with her exuberance and generosity. Despite facing many challenges, she maintained her strong independent nature. As one of eight siblings she kept in close contact with her brothers and sisters throughout her life. She was preceded in death by some of her siblings. Her memory will live on through her surviving sister, Usha Chowdhry and brother, Surjit Sachdev.

Sunita, affectionately known as Chicko, was a cherished aunt to her nieces, and nephews. We remember her for the laughter she shared, the love she gave and the lasting impact she had on our lives. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Friends may call at the ELGIN MILLS FUNERAL CENTRE, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill (SE corner of Elgin Mills and Leslie) 905-737-1720 on Monday, August 14, 2023 for a visitation starting at 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m.

We miss you so much Chicko Masi. At various times in my life you have been a massive part. We have lived together and visited each other and spoken with each other so often.

After Mum and Dad died I would talk with you whenever I was going to do a big operation! Your blessings helped me.

I will cherish your last emoji ‘party face and laughter’ the day before you passed away.

Now I can only talk to you in my thoughts. Fare well lovely person.

Thank you for looking after us.

Love you Aman, Jackie and the kids.

Dearest Chicko Massi,
You were our youngest Massi and the best of all!!!
You were a giver without and feelings of return!
You and I talked at length ever since I moved to the US in 80’s.
You always encouraged me and a lot that you talked about became a part of my life…..
Kanchan, Pallavi and Karan always spoke so highly of you!!!
Some of my dear friends were shocked that you have left us….
You will always be in our thoughts and prayers…
Now that you’ve joined the rest of the family….May you rest in peace….

I will always remember Chiko as a warm, friendly and insightful person.
She would tell me how much she enjoyed being in a book clubs, and that she sought knowledge about health, life and spirituality.
She truly adored her nieces and nephews, and always made lively and friendly conversations with my family, she made us feel very at home in her presence. I will miss her, may she journey safely to the light. Namaste.

Thank you for the time you spent with us in London, sharing a room with me for almost 2 years. After you left, there was not a day that went by, that I did not miss you.
