In memory of

Suh Fung Chang

December 19, 1928 -  June 15, 2020

CHANG, Suh Fung was born in Pujiang, Zhejiang Province near Shanghai in China. She worked hard throughout her life, starting as a worker in a textile factory, and eventually moving to Hong Kong in search of a better life for her family after World War II. She spent her whole life trying to improve the lives of her family members and her community, and as the matriarch, she was extremely well respected, as her strong, independent spirit guided her to be the best ally and advice provider to everyone around her. Suh Fung died peacefully in the hospital on June 15, 2020.

Suh Fung was the middle child among her two siblings. She brought her younger brother's family to Hong Kong to set them up for a better life because that is the person she was. Suh Fung is survived by four children: Frances Lau, Ronald Lau, Lawrence Lau and Rebecca Lau. Grandmother to Hailey and Robin, Ringo, Peggy and Janice and Great-Grandmother to Brendan and Tristan.

Her strength in the face of adversity, her compassion, and her recipes will be the legacy she leaves. As an avid cook bringing her own recipes with her where ever she went brought joy to family and friends alike. She will be greatly missed by her family and by all the people she has touched during her lifetime. Donations can be made on her behalf to Markham Stouffville Hospital in lieu of flowers.
