Suey Long Chong, 107. She passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2026, at the Yee Hong Centre in Scarborough. She was predeceased by her husband Young Chong on January 27, 2005. She is survived by stepchildren, step grandchildren, great nephews and niece.

Suey Long came to Canada from Canton China in 1957, first staying in North Bay, Ontario. After which, she married her husband and then eventually settled in Timmins, Ontario. While there, she did different odd jobs before working as a cook at the notable Empire Hotel, once known as the 'pride of the North'.

After retiring, she and her husband moved to Toronto, at first on Glenside Avenue in the Greenwood and Gerrard area, and then to Spadina and Dundas area.

She will be fondly remembered for her kindness and spirit.

Memorial services are being held at the York Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Ontario, M2N 5Z5, Tel: 416-221-3404. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm with services at 2:00 pm on August 8, 2026
