It is with great sadness and heartbreak that I wish to announce that my husband, Steve, passed away peacefully at Mackenzie Health Hospital at the age of 60 on May 31st, 2022. He was the beloved father of Andy Swartman. Treasured brother of Kerri Vanderberg (Rick) and loved by his nephews Nathaniel, Alex and niece Brooke. Older brother to Rod. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Norm and Joan.
He will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends that were truly family.
Steve spent many years working as a Printer at ASL Print FX. He took pride in his work and was known as one of the top printers in his area. As a young teen Steve took guitar lessons and he quickly fell in love with the instrument. He had a gift for music and over the years enjoyed jamming with his friends and performing with his band. We will miss seeing him pick up his acoustic guitar and playing his favorite songs for us.
Steve was always drawn to the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours fishing on lakes and rivers throughout Ontario with family and friends. He was known to portage his canoe in some difficult terrain but he never gave up because he knew at the end he would be doing what he loved. He often had his trusted companion Sage at his side when he went fishing. When having quiet moments at home listening to his favorite tunes or watching a movie she would lay on him even though she weighs 100 pounds. His faithful companion misses him dearly. She was his pride an joy.
Steve will be forever missed but never forgotten. As his son Andy said, " May the wind always be at your back"
