In memory of

Steve Petsinis

December 9, 1958 -  March 13, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Steve Petsinis on March 13, 2025, at the age of 66. Steve was a beloved father, dedo, brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

Born on December 9, 1958, to Panageotes and Roda Petsinis (predeceased), Steve grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He was the cherished brother of Marika (Jim) Howes, Nick (predeceased) (Cathy) Petsinis, Jim (Josie) Petsinis, Helen (predeceased) (Anthony, predeceased) Stephens, and Ted Petsinis.

Steve’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father to Amanda (John) Robertson, Jessica (Darren) Middleton, Megan (Kyle) Templeton, Melanie (Geurys) Rodriguez-Nunez, and Justin (Alisha) Petsinis, whom he shared with his former wife, Judy Petsinis. His love and wisdom will forever live on in his grandchildren: Natalia, Alexis, Makenzie, Nathan, Riley, Isabella, Jayden, Noah, Brooklyn, Lincoln, Sofia, Nicholas, Brayden, and Brody.

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will always remember his warmth and generosity.

After years of dedicated service, Steve retired from the City of Toronto Waste Management Services, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment. In his younger years, he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, fostering a deep connection to his faith and community.

Steve had a passion for motorcycles, eagles, and collecting treasures that held special meaning to him. His keen eye for unique finds and his love for the open road reflected his adventurous spirit.

Those who knew him will remember his strong work ethic, resilience, and the way he could make anyone feel welcome with just a few words and a smile.

Though he may not have been the greatest teacher, Steve often resorted to his signature phrase: “Watch and learn.” Whether or not the lesson actually stuck, those words—and the memories that came with them—will live on in the hearts of his children. And for those moments when he encountered sheer incompetence, Steve had a classic response: "God bless them"—his own special way of saying they had no idea what they were doing.

A funeral service to honor Steve’s life will be held at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Center in Oshawa on Friday, March 21, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who touched so many.

Though he is no longer with us, Steve’s legacy of love, laughter, and strength will remain in our hearts forever while his spirit will forever ride on.
