We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of Spyridon (Spiros)
Kalpouzos in Toronto on March 7, 2023 at the age of 91.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly survived by: his beloved wife Eugenia (Gene);
children Peter (Lyn) and John (Sandra); his grandchildren Samantha (Murray), Aaron,
Victoria (Justin), Nikolas, Michael, Jessica and Matthew; and great-grandchildren
Coralie and Adelaide.

Devoted brother and brother in-in-law of the late George Kalpouzos (the late Demetra),
the late Eleni Vasilakos (Nikolas), Maria Anggelakis (Tasso), Georgia Mouratidis
(Angelo) and Kostas Kalpouzos (Maria), Bill Pitsadiotis (Fotoula), Diana Stamatopoulos
(Nikolas) and Christina Evagelou. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces
and nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family, and friends.

Spiros was born in Patras, Greece in 1932 and was the son of Peter and Maria
Kalpouzos. Spiros was always so appreciative of his stepmother Barbara who cared
and loved him like her own. At 22 years of age, Spiros was drafted in the navy and
served his country for three years. Spiros’ true adventure started when he met and
married Eugenia, his one and only love of 63 years. In 1959 he made the decision to
leave his home and move to Canada. He saw his new home as a place of endless
possibilities, dreams, and of course, adventures. He settled in Toronto. In 1953, he
started his electrical trade that he loved. In 1967, he started his own business, Electron
Electric, and was known for his Red Maroon truck.

Despite the challenges of starting over in a new place and not knowing the language,
Spiros built a life and bright future for his family working for himself as an electrician. He
always enjoyed meeting new people, and working at different places. Helping people
was another love of his either helping a family member, friends or volunteering his time
at Ronald McDonald house.

If you are a family member or a friend, Spiros most likely has come to fix something in
your home. If you called, he would be there in a moment's notice. Spiros loved electrical
innovation, and would always tinker with appliances, lights, and things around the house
to improve them. He loved being an electrician, and helping people he continued to
work up to just 10 years ago.

Spiros’ family was the most important part of his life. As time passed, Spiros’ greatest
joy was watching his grandchildren grow. Spiros took great pleasure in sharing his
advice with his grandchildren. When he talked, you wanted to listen. Sometimes it was a
life lesson, other times it was a story of growing up and his adventures. Coming home
from a long day’s work, watching his grandchildren after they finished school was one of
his greatest joys. You could always find him joining his grandchildren’s hockey games,
and would be there at every graduation, birthday, or celebration. He was the first to join
the dance floor, and the last one to leave, never missing an opportunity for a waltz, or a
tango. Spiros spent his days enjoying a soccer game, tending to his garden, and
listening to music.

Spiros will always be remembered for his generosity, smile, and devotion to his family.
