Soulieng, known only as "Gramma" to my family, welcomed me (and later my family) into her family with open arms from day one. I recall my first dinner at her house trying to eat Spaghetti with chop sticks. She laughed and presented me with a fork. I guess from the beginning I was a big fan of what was cooking in her kitchen....sometimes I was curious, but not brave enough to try some things, like whatever was fermenting on the counter when I was young. She amazed me with her sewing talent, every stitch seemed perfect, and her green thumb (I think she could grown anything from roses to eatable vegetables and herbs). She was a strong women with such a great attitude about life even with so many obstacles to hurdle. My favourite times with Gramma were in the kitchen, trying to learn from her, madly scribbling down instructions as I knew her words were important and there was no written recipe outside her head. She was blessed with amazing children, including their spouses, and fabulous grandchildren, which I feel are my family too. Her smile, her laugh, her kindness and her generous heart will be missed. I will be forever grateful that this brave women came to Canada, with the aid of her sponsors in Belleville, with her family. She brought with her a little girl named Sengmany, who I cherish as my best friend. Her family became part of my family. Sending you love and sympathy to you Seng, Stephen, Sam, Dan, Matty, Campbell and to Soulieng's precious grandchildren too. Love, Julie
