Our beloved Sonia Maria da Silva Fernandes sadly passed away at sixty-nine years old to cancer on Saturday, December 29, at 7:17 am ET in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was born the eldest daughter to Donaciano Sindor da Silva and Maria Geralda Lisboa on May 17, 1949, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Sonia dedicated her entire life to her family, and held her friendships near and dear. She enjoyed a long lasting career of more than thirty years with the Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto. She continually worked on cultivating her faith, drawing upon God for strength and expressing gratitude for the abundance of gifts in her life.

Sonia is survived by her children (Marcio, Fabio and Daniela), her grandchildren (Max, Victoria, and Katerina), her siblings (Jose Carlos, Ione, Ana, Taniah and Fatima), and her many nieces and nephews.

Sonia was born in the springtime, and adored the floral hues of the season. One way to honour her life and passage to heaven is by wearing bright, happy colours to her services in homage to her unforgettable style, warm smile and loving spirit.

Visitation and Funeral Service Details
- Thursday, January 3, 2019: Memorial Visitation to take place at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre from 4 pm to 8 pm.
- Friday, January 4, 2019: Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church at 10 am.
