In memory of

Son Van Le

July 28, 1954 -  January 1, 2019

Son Van Le, 黎運山, had many names: Lee, Lai, 山, Ah-San, Sonny, Boss, 大佬, Uncle, 老公, 老豆, Ba-Ba, and Daddy. On the morning of January 1, 2018, Son passed away peacefully in his sleep. He leaves behind his wife, Helen Le and his 3 children, Anny, Victor, and Christina.

He was a generous friend, a loving family man, an endearing husband, and a doting father. If you needed something, he was the person to go to, and if he couldn’t get what you needed, he would know someone that could do it.

In 1980, he met his future wife at an ESL class, not long after he arrived in Canada from Vietnam. After 3 years of dating, they married and then embarked upon their new lives together. They supported each other as Helen went to school to get her Early Childhood Education diploma and Son built his own business in fabricating aluminum windows and doors. Son took loving care of his wife by cooking special meals, looking over her health, giving her relaxing massages, and travelling together.

He loved his children dearly, he spoiled them, and made sure they had everything they needed. He taught his children how to discover good food, to appreciate learning, to selflessly help others, to believe in themselves, and always aim high to succeed in everything they do.

He loved all kinds of music, taking pictures, going to the movies, and travelling to see friends and new places. He loved to challenge himself to learn how things worked and would constantly fix and remodel things. He always had to have the newest technology, whether it was a cell phone, streaming devices, blue-ray, record player, speakers, or even a karaoke machine.

Everyone that talked to him was immediately embraced by his larger-than-life personality, silly humour, and generous heart. His energy and presence will be deeply missed.

Anny ... so sorry to receive this tragic news. While I can relate to the pain you're feeling, I am honest enough to know that I don't have the words that will make you feel better ... but I do want you to know that I am here for you to lend an ear to listen to anything you need to say and a shoulder to lean on to help you through these tough times. Strength to you and your entire family. Thinking of you today. Take care.
