So-Ming Fu

February 5, 1923 -  September 20, 2020


It is with great sadness that the family of So-Ming Fu announces her passing on Sunday September 20th, 2020. So-Ming will be forever remembered as the matriarch of her family and for her kindness, selflessness, generosity, and love for her family.

So-Ming is survived by her daughters Pat (Hugo), Ellen (Robert), Elaine (Edmund) and Anita (Alfred); by her grandchildren Natalie (Chris), Jeff, Jason (Havi), Melanie (Nelson), Andrea (John), Calvin, Justin (Lisa), Ivan (Christine), Lisa (Joe), Nathan and Daisy; and, by her great grandchildren Brian, Blake, Hudson, Liam, Duncan, Eloise, Tyler and Margot. So-Ming was predeceased by her husband, Samuel, and her eldest daughter, Fanny.

A funeral service in memory of So-Ming will be held on Wednesday September 30th, 2020 at 1:30pm-3pm, at the Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation & Funeral Centre, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd East, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9, with Rev. Kai Ng officiating.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, those who would like to pay their respects will be able to do so through a virtual visitation, prior to the service, on September 30th at 1:00pm. A link will appear on this website 5 minutes before the scheduled time. The virtual service will begin at 1:30pm. The live stream will be recorded and will be available on the website for 10 days, following the service.

Those who so desire may make donations in memory of So-Ming to one of the following charities of your choosing: Mon Sheong Foundation - Richmond Hill, Toronto Chinese Alliance Church, Mackenzie Health - Richmond Hill, and North York General Hospital. Mrs. Fu 伯母 is forever remembered as a kind and loving person that I knew many years ago. Her beautiful smile, lovely tune of voice and delicious cooking kept coming back to my mind. She will be missed by many. My deepest condolences to the family for their loss. May she Rest In Peace with her husband 。
