In memory of

Skyler William Berry

January 21, 1961 -  January 24, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Skyler William Berry on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Credit Valley Hospital after a short illness.

Skyler was surrounded by his loved ones upon his passing. Skyler was born on January 21, 1961, and sadly spent his 64th birthday in the ICU Unit.

Skyler leaves behind his common law partner Anna Murray and family, his loving sister Dauneen and special niece Lorna, his son Ryan and close friends Sharon and Connie along with many cousins and friends who he met along his journey of life.

Skyler had a 35-year career with Mississauga Transit, better known now as MiWay. We want to acknowledge his colleague Bus Drivers who made his run on the streets of Mississauga an easier task. When advising Skyler’s union of his passing, we were told that Skyler was an amazing man who always cared about his ATUF family (The Amalgamated Union 1572) and he will be greatly missed.

Throughout Skyler’s career many passengers have sent letters to management to make them aware of the SAFE ride they had on their bus journey because of his excellent standard of a GREAT BUS DRIVER.
Prior to Skyler’s career with Transit, Skyler worked for 10 years with Can Par. He was a member of the Track and Trace System Committee which made improvements in the delivery of packages.

Prior to moving to Rodney he lived in Mississauga and was known in his neighborhood as “The Handyman” where he took on many jobs helping neighbors and any project to make things better.

When Skyler moved to Rodney in 2015, he enjoyed the quiet town life atmosphere. He bought a boat and enjoyed fishing on the waters of Lake Erie. Skyler had 30 Muscovy ducks, 8 laying hens and 3 cats but his buddy was Felix. This was Skyler’s way of relaxing. Skyler and Anna enjoyed many vacations together, but their special one was going to Scotland to visit with his aunt and uncle and cousins, as well as a trip to Newfoundland.

It was Skyler’s wish to be buried in the town of Lucan Ontario, where his mother was born, and his grandparents are buried.

We want to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the Credit Valley Hospital 3CICU unit as well as his Oncologist Dr. Blair Ernst and Doctor Daniel Sapir his Kidney specialist from Oakville Trafalgar Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, Skyler’s wishes were that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 1599 Hurontario St Mississauga L5G 4S1.

Visitation will be held on Saturday February 15th from 10-12pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 12pm in the chapel at The Simple Alternative Mississauga. Burial to follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery in Lucan Ontario; On Wednesday February 19th at 1:00pm.
