In memory of

Siegfried "Fred" Lanos

July 31, 1943 -  December 4, 2020

After a long, courageous battle, Fred passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 4, 2020. Cherished husband of Diane (nee Pollard) for 57 years. Proud and loving father of Anthony “Buck” (Mary Lynn) of Cannington and Jackie (Steve Edmunds) of Oshawa. Adored Opa of Braeden (Michelle) and Emily. Fred leaves behind his sister, Ruth Brock, of Oshawa and is predeceased by brothers Gunther, Hubert, Walter and Gottfried. Fondly remembered by extended family and friends. Fred worked for many years as a small business owner in Cannington until his retirement. Fred’s natural talent and passion for music led to many years as a respected music director and pipe organist at Trinity United Church. He enjoyed playing the organ, golfing, ice fishing and spending time with his family around the pool. A special thank you to his hematologist, Dr. Naassan, and staff of Durham Regional Cancer Centre, Critical Care Team at Lakeridge Health and Palliative Care Team of Tina RN and Dr. C. Hadden for their compassionate care and guidance throughout his final days at home. A private family service and arrangements have been entrusted to Thornton Cemetery & Funeral Centre, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, 905-579-6787). Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted for Durham Regional Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.
