Dr. Shuk Chun Lau was born in a merchant family in Xian China on October 8, 1940. She was the olderest child with the primary wife of her father. She was not healthy at her young age. Her parents thought that she will die soon due to her health conditional, however her mom insisted to bring her to get treatments with the most famous Chinese Medicine doctor at the time. During the treatments, she recovered. It was because of this small female Chinese Medicine doctor’s inference to her health, she decided to become a Chinese medicine doctor like her when she grew up.
In 1966, she graduated from University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and served an internship at Xian Hospital of Chinese Medicine the following year. She continued working at the same hospital and became attending physician few years later. Dr. Lau was passionate about how to improve treatment efficiency, she then heavily involved in combination treatment with Western medicine and Chinese medicine. She lectured western medicine doctors to have deep understanding of Chinese medicine during her years of practice in 1967-1980 in Xian China.
In 1980, Dr. Lau and her family moved to Hong Kong and started her own clinic few years later. On top of her own clinic, she and her business partner started a distant learning center partnered with Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. She loved teaching and been blessed with many great western medicine students and other professionals who loves traditional Chinese medicine.
Dr. Lau was huge believer in giving back and helping out in the community and the world. Think globally, act locally. she believed that the measure of a person's life is the affect they have on others. She volunteered weekly at nursing homes to offer free medical treatments and been awarded for all her years of serving in Hong Kong until 1997. Dr. Lau’s patients and students loved her because of her professional work ethics and helpful spirits.
In 1990, Dr. Lau and her husband accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior and being Baptist at Hong Kong Chinese Presbyterian Church.
In 1997, Dr. Lau and her late husband Mr. Yuen Tai Lam immigrated to Canada to enjoy her semi retirement years with her daughter June Lam. Since then, she attended Toronto Swatow Baptist Church with her husband and spend a lot of time to read and study bible. And started her interest in some special plants and flower arrangements. Travel with her family is another big joy of her heart.
She practiced Traditional Chinese Medicine until she fell at her kitchen and broke her hip in December 2013. Since then, her walking ability went down day by day until her late husband’s last months of his life at the hospital and retirement home, she moved to live with her daughter’s family. She loved to watch her grand daughter playing with their dogs and hang out together…

Her life was fulfilled with her loving husband and daughter and son in law Robert Awad and grand daughter Christine Awad.
