It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley Olive Upton (nee Williams) on August 29, 2019 in Oshawa, Ontario.

Shirley was a loving mother who cared deeply about her three children — Terry Hibbard, Stephen Upton and Linda Stephens — and her son-in-law, David Hibbard and daughter-in-law Diane Upton. She was the proud grandmother of Natalie Stephens, Mitchell Stephens, Kyle Upton, Nadine Upton and Nicola Hibbard and great grandmother of Alice Upton.

Shirley was born and raised in London, England, moving to Canada in the late 1950s, settling in Oshawa, Ontario. She held various office jobs in the city and then worked for Ontario Power Generation for many years as administrative assistant and purchaser until her retirement. Shirley was the Toronto Blue Jays’ biggest fan and an avid Euchre player. She will be remembered as a kind, generous and loving person. Entombment will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. outside at Thornton Cemetery in Oshawa.
