In memory of

Shirley May Carmichael

December 29, 1928 -  January 10, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley May Carmichael (Gilchrist) at the age of 96. Shirley passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born in Toronto on December 29, 1928, Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Roderick Carmichael. Together, they raised three children, Kathryn, Roddy, and Stuart, who brought her immense joy throughout her life. She was a devoted grandmother to James and Brandon, and her love for her family knew no bounds.

Shirley was also the cherished sister of Barbara, Lorna, and Bruce, and daughter of May and James. She had a special bond with her siblings, and their love and support were an important part of her life.

A dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Shirley worked for many years at Lawson Residence, where she cared for and mentored many young lives. Her ability to connect with children left a lasting impression, and many of those she worked with continued to keep in touch with her throughout her life. Shirley's warmth, laughter, and nurturing nature made her a grandmother to all she met.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will live on in her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Shirley's family would like to thank everyone who supported her through the years.
