It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a devoted mother, cherished daughter, and beloved sister, Shirley, who left this world on July 21, 2021. Born and raised in Barbados, Shirley ventured to Canada later in life, embracing her new home with pride and enthusiasm.
Shirley epitomized love and care as a mother, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the well-being of her child. She spared no effort in ensuring her son's happiness and growth, from providing the latest toys to fostering educational opportunities, including enrollment in French immersion school.
An industrious soul, Shirley embarked on a journey of self-improvement, returning to school at George Brown College for Hospitality. Her career in the Hotel and Hospitality industry brought her fulfillment as she served in various roles, including as a server for large banquet halls and bartender.
Her passion for nature and music was evident to all who knew her. Shirley found solace in the tranquillity of parks, enjoying the company of animals, particularly cats, squirrels, and birds. Music, especially from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, held a special place in her heart, alongside her love for nature documentaries and history shows.
Shirley instilled in her loved ones the importance of staying informed about world events. She cherished family traditions, such as attending the Santa Claus Parade and the CNE, creating cherished memories year after year.
Shirley’s legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support will forever be cherished by her son and friends. She was always a source of support and kindness in difficult times to her son, and they shared an unbreakable bond. Though she may have departed this world, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those whose lives she touched.
With heartfelt gratitude for the time we shared with Shirley, may she rest in eternal peace.
