In memory of

Shirley Frances Bryan

December 29, 2020

On December 29, 2020, in her 91st year, Shirley Frances Bryan passed away peacefully at the Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill. Shirley was a very loving Mother to Dale (Heather), Darcy (Monica) and Tracy (John), Grandmother to Alexandrea (Robert), Roxane, Austin, Rosemary, Drew and Samantha and Great Grandmother to Rozaleah and Zackary. She will also be missed deeply by her Sister Betty who called her every day and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley was a kind, loving and sweet lady who always had her faith as an active member of the United Church. Shirley was born in Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. After the death of her Mother, she and her sister went to live with her Grandmother in Seaforth, Nova Scotia, where she was raised. As a young woman Shirley graduated from the Miss Murphy’s Business College. She was employed at the Bank of Montreal in Halifax and later was transferred to Toronto where she married Norman and had her family. Shirley loved her garden and enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking. She always made everyone feel welcome. Many thanks go to Dr. Berger and the wonderful team at the Hill House Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. Many thanks also to the York Region Community- Palliative Care Team. A Service and Interment will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Hill House Hospice.

Dear Dale and Heather
It was always such a pleasure running into Shirley when we’d be visiting my mom at the retirement home. She was a lovely, warm and caring woman and will be greatly missed by your family. Sending our love and condolences to you both and to Austin and Drew.

Shirley was a very warm and caring person. We thoroughly enjoyed all those special family occasions celebrated over nearly 30 years. Very few could match Shirley's baking and cooking. Although a quiet woman, her sense of humor brightened us all. We loved her hardy laugh and and all the wisdom she imparted about life. We saw what a wonderful grandmother she was.
Audrey and the late David Thomson loved Shirley so much and enjoyed many visits while sitting in Dale and Heather's garden. Shirley will be missed so very much. Rest in Peace.
