In memory of

Shirley Broadbent

October 27, 1947 -  August 21, 2021

BROADBENT, Shirley Beatrice

On August 21, 2021 after a long fight with cancer, with her children at her side, Shirley finally got the peace she’s been longing for and went home to be with her husband (Douglas Broadbent), mother and father (Alean and Clayton Lloyd), brothers (Eddy and Bruce Lloyd) father and mother in law (Aubrey and Evelyn Broadbent), and her grandson Gabriel Broadbent. She leaves behind her son Darcy, daughter Tara, daughter-in-law Susanne Broadbent, 2 brothers Dale and Robert Lloyd and sister Sheila Lloyd as well as many nieces, nephews, sisters-in law, brothers-in-law and her many friends. The family would like to thank the hospital staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa 6C, as well as the Palliative care 4F for taking care of Shirley. A memorial service will be held at Thornton Cemetery and Crematorium on Saturday August 28 at 1:30pm. The service will be outside, however, due to Covid protocols, masks will be required and contact tracking. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Mental Health Association.

I am sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. At a ladies bible study, I had severe hip pain, your Mom laid hands on me and prayed and the pain lifted. I felt such comfort. God used your Mom to comfort me and other people. I am so thankful for her life. The Lord comfort you and give you His peace. Love Kathy

My best memory of Shirley Broadbent was going to her house when they lived in the Oxford Townhouses to babysit Tara. Shirley always made sure to send Doug to the store to buy favorite treats and in the winter, made sure she had my favorite hot chocolate. She was always so kind and loved her children so very much. She will be very missed in my heart

Mrs Shirley Broadbent was a very kind woman with a heart of pure gold. She showed me great generosity and never for once treated me as a stranger. I'm grateful to God that I met her and also for the time spent with her. Adieu, dear Shirley!
