October 15, 1939 – January 13, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Julie Sheng-Fang Ting, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on January 13, 2025, in her 85th year at Yee Hong Nursing Home.

Born on October 15, 1939, in Changxing, Zhejiang, China, Sheng-Fang was a woman of remarkable kindness, strength, and grace. In 1967, she immigrated to Canada, embracing a new life with courage and determination. While working full-time, she lovingly raised her two children, balancing her many responsibilities with an enduring spirit and boundless love.

Known for her extraordinary culinary talents, Sheng-Fang had a remarkable gift for bringing people together around her table. Her home-cooked meals, filled with love, were the centerpiece of countless cherished memories. She created an atmosphere of warmth and belonging for everyone who entered her home.

Sheng-Fang also had an extraordinary gift for storytelling, captivating family and friends with her vivid tales that left everyone laughing, inspired, or deeply moved. She delighted loved ones with her beautiful singing voice, often performing heartfelt renditions of Mandarin pop songs. In her later years, she developed a love for badminton, where her cheerful and playful nature shone through. Her opponents, out of fondness and admiration, would often aim the birdie toward her, just to keep the game going and share in her joy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 63 years, Frank Chih-Hsiung Ting 丁 志 雄; her children, Nancy (John Shum) and Robert (Grace); her grandchildren, Julie Ting (Benjamin Lai), Jonathan Shum (Grace Yin), and Ryan Ting; her great-grandchildren, Lauren Lai and Tobias Lai; her three surviving brothers, Sheng-Tai Chu, Sheng-Ping Chu and Sheng-Huan Chu; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of Julie Sheng-Fang Ting’s life will be held on Friday, January 17th, at York Cemetery. Visitation will commence at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Invited friends and immediate family members are welcome to gather in remembrance and share the many cherished memories of her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Yee Hong Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

The kindness, strength, and the love she poured into every aspect of her life will never be forgotten.

John 14:27. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

Dear sister: I will never see you again. The pain in my heart is indescribable. Many childhood memories come to my mind... In the pain, I know that you are resting in the arms of God, free from all physical pain, and no longer in pain. From now on, I can only use my full thoughts to heal my wounds. Sister, you will always live in my heart, forever! Forever!
