In memory of

甄錫銓先生 Shek Chuen Yan

September 24, 1947 -  February 27, 2022

It is said, "a picture is worth a thousand words."
With so many photographs yet to be shared, Shek had only just started to enjoy his retirement years.
On the morning of Sunday February 27th, 2022, Shek lost his sudden battle with Liver Cancer. He was surrounded with love, at home with all his family — where he most wanted to be.

Nearly 75 years old, Shek was a devoted husband, stoic father, and an energetic grandfather to three.

Shek loved all the simple things in life... he had never-ending patience, he was selfless, and having come to Canada over 50 years ago, he truly understood the value of tolerance. These were virtues that he tried to impart to his family, his colleagues, his friends.

Some of his proudest moments included travelling around North America representing the company he devoted his career-life to. To the height of which, was having the opportunity to participate within the Calgary '88 Olympics where he got to represent both his company, and his country.

The two charitable organizations closest to his heart, is the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and the Canadian Cancer Society.

Family and friends will have an opportunity to bid farewell to Shek on Saturday March 5th at Pine Hills Cemetery from 10am to 1pm.

Very sorry to hear bout Shek's passing. Our paths crossed quite a few times at work over our 40 year careers. Most times we were helping others but sometimes we helped each other too. Rest in Peace Buddy.

Dear Cynthia and family,
I only met your father/husband a few times, but he seemed to be a very gentle and loving man. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. Please accept my condolences.

My heart is breaking for you and your family. I have so many wonderful memories of Shek. Our friendship was one of my highlights of working at IBM. I will miss him and our many dim sum lunches.
