In memory of

Sheila Ann Hughes

December 3, 1961 -  July 30, 2022

It is with profound sadness & shattered hearts we announce after a short but courageous battle with cancer, our beloved Sheila Ann Hughes passed away peacefully at the age of 60 on July 30th, 2022, surrounded by those who loved her.

A dedicated and hard-working employee of The City of Toronto, Sheila carried a tremendous sense of compassion and care for the elderly and the struggling. Gifted with a great sense of humour, Sheila never hesitated to bring a smile to the face of those around her and was always the first to jump in to lend a helping hand. Her love of Motown music imbued her desire to always go to bat for the underdog and carry herself with the utmost R-E-S-P-E-C-T for her peers.

A proud and nurturing mother, Sheila is survived by her only son Cody Daniel Latino and his partner Brittney Jackson, of British Columbia Canada.

Sheila is survived by her father Michael John Hughes, and predeceased by her loving mother Mary Angeline Hughes, who was no doubt by Sheila’s bedside in her final hours.
Through every step of Sheila’s brief battle, she was encouraged, loved, and supported by her baby brother Michael Hughes, her sister and brother in law Nancy & Daryl Mintz and their children James (Darlene), and Angeline (Lyle) Mintz.

Sheila is also survived by her brother Anthony Hughes, and sister Linda Hubble and their children.
The family will be forever grateful and comforted by the outpouring of love and support from friends and Sheila’s colleagues. We thank you all for your kindnesses.

The family would like to acknowledge the incredible love, care, and compassion offered to Sheila by the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, the Health Sciences North Cancer Centre in Sudbury and the Ville-Marie Hospital, Ville Marie, Quebec.

The family encourages all of those who were touched by Sheila to attend a Celebration of Life at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Monday August 22nd, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
Donations in memory of Sheila to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
