Shaundra Amber Mahadia Spence, known affectionately as Shauna, passed away on September 11, 2023, at the young age of 33 in Toronto, Ontario. She was born on April 4, 1990, in Mississauga, Ontario. Shauna was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend.
Shauna had a vibrant and adventurous spirit. She was an avid enthusiast of both team sports and individual challenges, participating in baseball, beach volleyball, rock climbing, dirt biking, snowboarding, and hiking. She was known for her athleticism and her passion for pushing her limits; she even managed to navigate her way through many a mosh-pit. In addition to her athletic pursuits, Shauna had a creative side. From a young age, she expressed her creativity through various arts & crafts, Anime and dragon sketches. She had a keen eye for detail and enjoyed immersing herself in various artistic endeavors & books. In the world of Cosplay, she was known for her imaginative and detailed costumes.
Shauna loved spending her summers in Florida and attending Nascar races. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially enjoying backyard BBQs & family gatherings at her grandparents' homes, which created lasting memories.
In her professional life, Shauna was a dedicated veterinary technician. She had a genuine passion for helping animals, whether they had two legs, four legs or no legs at all. Her commitment to animal welfare was unwavering. She made a positive impact on the lives of countless animals as her love for them knew no boundaries and she found joy in the company of all creatures.
Shauna will be deeply missed by her mother, Chandra, her father, Jeffrey, her sister, Madison, her grandmothers, Dorcas Spence and Doreen Ramsaran, her aunts and uncles, Savitri and Robin Persaud, Indira and Tony Vaillancourt, Dave and France Spence, her cousins, Anjali, Jayden, Arianna, Isabella, Travis, Sarah, Michelle, Nadia, Jason and many other cousins, extended family & friends. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Robert C. Spence and John R. Ramsaran.
Visitation for Shauna will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough, Ontario, on Sunday, September 24th, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and on Monday, September 25th, from 10:00 - 11:00 am. A celebration of her life will follow at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Shauna will be interred at Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Rd. N. Oshawa, Ontario.
Shauna's vibrant spirit and loving nature will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity and a deep love for animals and the many family members and friends who will all miss her dearly. Her struggle is over and God has called her home. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
