In memory of

雷湯秀英太夫人 Shau Ying Louie

December 5, 1926 -  July 22, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shau Ying Louie, age 96, with her loving family by her side on the morning of July 22nd. She is survived by her five children- Yvonne, Kevin(Nora), Cathy(Edward), Wai(John), and Anthony; ten grandchildren and their spouses, as well as eight great grandchildren.

Shau Ying was born in Guangxi廣西 to a loving family who owned a pomelo farm. She recalled fond childhood memories of roaming freely around the farm, eating fresh pomelos every day. In 1946, she met the love of her life, Kwok Ching, and together they started a family. They eventually settled in Hong Kong, until 1967 when they immigrated with their family to Canada to start a new chapter in life.

Shau Ying was an exceptionally loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She taught her grandchildren many traditional Chinese arts and crafts, and they delighted in learning these cultural skills. Her pride and joy was in growing the best veggies and melons all just to give them away. Everyone she met was touched by her warmth and thoughtfulness. Her life motto was, "Be frugal to yourself but always be generous to others." Her family and friends will always cherish her memory and will miss her forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to a charity of your choice.

Due to the current COVID 19 restrictions, the funeral service will be a private function with family only.

Entered July 26, 2021 from Toronto

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs Louie’s passing. She was a remarkable woman who Paul, I and our two sons admired deeply. She welcomed us as neighbours from the very beginning in 2005, giving us winter melons, plant starts, flower starts and a cheery welcome in the front and back yards. We will miss her.
