In memory of
Serpouhy Khabayan
February 14, 1932 -
July 5, 2024
On Friday, July 5, 2024, Serpouhy Khabayan, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away in her 92nd year. She was born in Beirut, Lebanon on February 14, 1932 to Boghos and Mariam (nee Minassian) Antoyan, and spent her childhood and early adult life there before moving to Canada in 1967 with her husband, Garo and her son while pregnant with her soon-to-be born twin daughters.
Serpouhy was fiercely loyal to her family and provided them with unwavering support, guidance, and love throughout her life. She was a fantastic cook whose culinary skills were highly appreciated by all guests; she entertained frequently and an invitation to her table was highly sought after. She imparted these skills to all her children and the next generation of grandchildren. She took great pride in keeping an immaculate home and dressing elegantly anytime she stepped out of the house, even well into her nineties. She also enjoyed travelling, which she did frequently to Europe and the United States. As she got older, she discovered a new excitement in watching NBA basketball, and could be found daily watching and cheering on her favourite hometown team, the Raptors.
Serpouhy was predeceased by her husband, Garo Khabayan, and remained devoted to his memory for decades after his early death. She leaves behind her son, Vasken Khabayan (Sabrina Dadrian-Kassabian) and granddaughter Sophene, daughter Shooshig Pauline (Ara Yeretsian), daughter Shoghig Paula (Vahe Kossaian), and grandchildren Armen, Anahid and Alexander. She was predeceased by her sisters Elisabeth Simonian, Payladz Tchakmakhdjian, and brother Haroutioun Antonian, and leaves her sister Araxie Mania and Hermine Butman, and numerous nephews and nieces in France, Germany and throughout the United States.
