In memory of

Selvamalar Lankagi

July 5, 1934 -  February 26, 2024

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Selvamalar (Malar) Lankagi on the quiet morning of Monday, February 26th, 2024, at the tender age of 89, at the Extendicare Rouge Valley Long Term Care facility.

Malar now rejoins her beloved husband, Edward Christopher Kamalanayagam Lankagi, in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her adored children Dougei, Boyd, Linda, and Shereen; her loving daughters-in-law, Evelyn and Srimathy; and her favorite son-in-law, Dean. Her memory will forever be a beacon of warmth and joy for her 10 grandchildren, David, Taylor, Jessica, Tamara, Erica, Nicole, Benjamin, Joshua, Matthew, and Samantha, who will deeply miss her nurturing presence.

Born on July 5th, 1934, in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, to Edward Karthigesu and Alice Kangammah, Malar was the heart of a large, vibrant family, including 5 sisters and 3 brothers. She leaves behind her brother Selvadas and sister Selvajothy, along with countless memories of laughter and love. Malar's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of devotion, both to her faith and to her family, her remarkable culinary skills that brought people together, her unwavering kindness, and her gentle, loving nature that touched the hearts of all who knew her.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time, extending a heartfelt thank you to the friends who visited and shared in Malar's journey, as well as to the dedicated healthcare providers at Extendicare Rouge Valley who cared for her in her final years.

We invite you to join us in honoring Malar's life and legacy at the viewing, to be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre on Friday, March 22nd, 2024, from 4-8 pm, and on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, from 9-10 am, followed by a funeral service and burial.
