In memory of
Sela Yazejian
May 2, 1932 -
December 16, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Sela Yazejian announce her passing on Saturday, December 16, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Sela will be lovingly remembered by her children, John (Rosanna), Greg (Zepur), Gina (Tim); grandchildren, Alysha, Jacob, Hannah, Michael, Sela, Hagop; siblings, Briska, Zovig, Silva; and numerous other family members, friends and those who compassionately cared for her at Fairview Lodge (Whitby) during her last years.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Hagop, and by her sister, Lydia.
Sela was born in Beylan, Turkey to Krikor and Mary Knabian. She moved to Beirut, Lebanon when she was 18 to study nursing at the American University of Beirut. In 1960, she married the dashing Hagop Yazejian and they lived in Beirut with their three children until war broke out in 1975. In 1977 they made the courageous decision to move the family to Canada. In this new country, Sela continued her nursing career at Branson Hospital until her retirement in 1999. Along the way she was actively involved in the church community and welcomed many into their home with beautiful hospitality. She loved flowers and would spend many hours gardening. Sela was a strong woman who made many personal sacrifices for her family and friends, and wanted everyone to know her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Armenian Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene.
