In memory of

趙伍秀玲夫人 Mrs. Sau-Ling Chiu

July 11, 1933 -  June 27, 2021

CHIU, SAU LING: July 11, 1933 – June 27, 2021. Peacefully passed away at Scarborough General Hospital, Toronto, at the age of 87. She is survived by her husband, Wing Ho, of 72 years who is heartbroken at the loss of his soulmate and love of his life. Her children, Lotus Chan (Patrick) and Raymond Chiu (Krittiya), and Grace Chiu along with her three grandchildren, Eugene (Michelle), Belinda and Jeffrey and great granddaughter (Reia). We all love her and will miss her dearly. Sau Ling was born in Taishan, Guangdong, China and was the oldest of 2 children. She was predeceased by her sister, Sau Yim.

Sau Ling was a strong, courageous and visionary woman. She always put her family first, had a calm demeanour and had an optimistic view of life. She is fondly remembered by her extended family and friends, all of whom have great memories of a remarkable and dignified lady. She had a kind and gentle personality and loved to treat her family and friends to good food. Sau Ling enjoyed going for walks in the park, tai chi, singing, listening to music and watching her Chinese drama programs. Sau Ling loved her collection of stylish hats and loved to dress up and enjoy dim sum and eating out with her family and friends.

In her golden years, she enjoyed travelling with her family, reading the daily Chinese newspaper, puttering around the house and tending to her garden and houseplants. A day was not complete without her daily exercise routine and chatting on the telephone with her friends and family. Many friends who knew her will never forget her generosity, kind heart and love for conversation. She was extremely loyal and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Sincere thanks to the dedicated doctors, nurses and support staff at SHN Scarborough General Hospital. In memory of Sau Ling, donations may be made to the SHN Foundation at: https://shnfoundation.ca/ways-to-give/gifts-in-memory/. Robin and I are so sad to hear about the passing of Ling. Our hearts go out to Wing Ho and their children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. I am the second son of Ling's father's older (not oldest) brother. I had the pleasure of first meeting Ling and sister Yim and her parents, my uncle and aunt in 1961 when my father took our family to Hong Kong to celebrate our grandmother's 80th birthday. I was 10 years old at the time and Ling and her sister Yim helped take care of me and my two brothers during our 6 week stay as if they were our older sisters!

Years later, when their families moved to Toronto, we were able to occasionally get together either in Toronto or in NYC. When we met in Toronto, Ling always welcomed us with open arms and went out her way to show us a good time. I will always remember Ling's warmth and love that she had for the family.

We will truly miss her!

Sympathy and condolences to the Chan family for their great loss. I have had the honour of becoming friends with Sau Ling’s granddaughter Belinda and also have spent time with Jeffrey. Sau Ling’s legacy lives on through her amazing grandchildren and great granddaughter who are a testament to her character and style. I wish I got to meet her. ♥️
